Supt. Brian Petrie shared updates on several topics when the Cardington-Lincoln Board of Education met Monday, November 16.

Related to the Elementary Guidance Grant, he said, “it’s really important that from grades K-6 and 7-12 that we have some common language about what the expectations are from students in regards to behavior and citizenship. A program like this will have us speaking the same language.”

“Even though the grant is designed to last three years and we hope we can sustain those positions longer, if we can integrate this training into the staff, it will be something that will last much longer than three years.”

He gave a report on the Report Card saying there will be an update released from the state in January.

He also reviewed the existing Facility Rental Agreement rates noting that they need to be reviewed and updated.

Giving their reports were Joe Mills, Junior high and high school principal; Christy Roqueplot, elementary and intermediate principal; Scott Hardwick Student Services and Jennifer Zierden, digital learning and drop-out recovery.

The board approved payment of bills totaling $1,123,351.74 for October.

Also approved was the submitted MOESC Substitute Teacher list and the correction of a clerical error from the October, 2015 meeting: Collette Jones, aide from seven hours a day corrected to six hours a day.

Policy updates were given a first reading.

The Parent Transportation Agreement was approved. With this legislation the board declares it impractical to transport pupils who are eligible for transportation to and from school under Section 3327.01 of the ORC.

Approved were the designated bus stops for the 2015-2016 school year.

Included in the Consent Agenda’s approval were classified employees Amy Woodard, sub aide (currently employed as certified substitute) Crystal Spires, 11 month contract as EMIS secretary and Pupil Activity Contracts (which expire June 30, 2016) for Terry McConnell, 8th grade boys’ basketball (volunteer); Colin Hansen, varsity assistant track and Jeremiah Wagner, varsity assistant wrestling.

Accepted was the resignation of Jeff Maibach, 8th grade boys basketball and Marty Barnett was employed as assistant AD Winter.

Extended Day contracts were approved for Lindsey Anders, and Brooke Holcomb, each elementary guidance grant, five days.

Supt Petrie said there will be a celebration of District Service for retiring board member Jim Clinger on December 14, 2015.

He also suggested there will be public hearings for the 2016-2017 school year calendar in January, 2016

The board entered a 34 minute executive session at 7:53 pm in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 121.22G, to review negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment.
