The parking lot at McDonald’s in Mt. Gilead was nearly full at 5:25 pm Wednesday evening. The reason? It was Bingo night!
McDonald’s Manager Doug Carey said it’s the time senior citizens gather each Wednesday from 5-7 pm to play Bingo in the seating area. This particular evening, employee Courtney West was the ‘Caller’ for nearly two dozen players.
Carey said the program started in June as a community fete, with ice cream and treats as Bingo prizes.
“A lot of them spend time here, and this is a way to thank them,” Carey explained. “Any senior can come – it doesn’t matter where you’re from. This is an opportunity for them to get together here.”

Nearly two dozen seniors showed up Sept. 23 to play Bingo at the Mt. Gilead McDonald’s. After the same lady won twice in a row, several players requested new cards!
