TIME WARNER CABLE TO LAUNCH SPECIAL PAPAL VISIT CHANNEL FEATURING COMPLETE COVERAGE OF POPE FRANCIS’S HISTORIC VISIT TO CUBA AND THE UNITED STATES IN SEPTEMBER – Time Warner Cable (TWC) announced it will offer uninterrupted coverage of Pope Francis’s historic trip to Cuba and the United States for cable television customers on its special Papal Visit Channelon 199. On Sept. 20 at 8 a.m., the Papal Visit Channel will launch with a telecast of Pope Francis’s Sunday Mass at Havana Revolution Square in Cuba. The channel will provide seven days of dedicated, wall-to-wall coverage of Pope Francis’s visit, including all his public appearances, masses, and speeches shown live in their entirety until his departure on Sept. 27.

PHILOSOPHY PRESENTATION TO BE HELD AT ASHLAND UNIVERSITY – The Ashland University Philosophy Department and the Philosophy Club as well as Phi Sigma Tau are sponsoring a Philosophy Presentation that will feature Dr. Evan Riley, assistant professor of philosophy from the College of Wooster. The event is set for Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall of the Dwight Schar College of Education.
Riley will deliver a talk titled “Understanding Knowing How,” which willtalk about the difference between knowing “how to do something” and knowing “that something is the case.”

PREVENT BLINDNESS AWARDED $18,000 FROM THE MARGARET TOTH FUND – The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness has received a $18,000 grant from the Margaret Toth Fund at the Toledo Community Foundation to support the Prevent Blindness Vision Care Outreach Program in Lucas County.
Prevent Blindness is the state’s leading volunteer nonprofit public health organization dedicated to prevent blindness and preserve sight. It provides direct services to more than 800,000 Ohioans and educates consumers about what they can do to protect and preserve their sight.
The goal of the Prevent Blindness Vision Care Outreach Program (VCO) is to prevent unnecessary vision loss by providing access to comprehensive, preventive vision care, education and eyewear for uninsured, medically indigent children and adults in the Toledo-Lucas County area through a system of donated eye care services.
