The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Athletics Department along with the men’s and women’s basketball programs announced the 2015-2016 schedules on Thursday.

The men’s team is coming off of a successful 2014-15 season under Head Coach Jared Ronai, achieving an overall record of 19-13 and a fifth place finish in the Crossroad’s League. The Cougars tallied several key wins down the stretch against (8) Bethel College, and twice defeated (22) Grace College with one win coming in the Crossroads League Tournament semifinals. The Cougars fell three points shy of advancing to the Crossroads League Championship when they came up short at Indiana Wesleyan University in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals.

The Cougars will open the season at Carlow University November 3rd and then head to Cincinnati Christian University for an opening season tournament before taking on Shawnee State University at home November 13th.

The women’s basketball team enters a new era in 2015-16 with first year Head Coach Amanda Learned guiding the program. Learned comes to MVNU after working as an Assistant Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. The Lady Cougars feature a young core of talented returning and new players that will look to help build the program this season.

MVNU will open the 2015-16 campaign at home on November 3rd against the University of Cincinnati-Clermont and then will head to the Trinity International Classic on November 6th and 7th. Links to both schedules are below.
