Cardington tallied two runs in the seventh inning to edge host Millersport 5-3 in a Division IV sectional contest Thursday.

The Pirates surrendered two runs in the first inning, but scored three in the top of the fourth frame to take a one-run lead. Millersport scored once in the bottom of that inning to tie the score, but would not bring anyone else across home plate that night, as the Pirates were able to scratch out the win thanks to their strong seventh frame.

Garrett Wagner pitched a five-hitter to earn the win.

Highland Scots

Highland made an early exit from the Division II playoffs, falling 7-1 at home to Buckeye Valley on Thursday.

The Barons struck quickly, scoring once in the first inning and then adding two runs each in the third and fourth frames. While the Scots scored once in the fifth, they would not be able to get closer than a 5-1 margin in the contest. The Barons added two runs in the sixth to provide their final margin of victory.

Highland only got five hits in the game, with Alex Wright picking up two of that total. Max Schreiber suffered the loss for the team, while Mack Anglin pitched in relief.
