The Highland girls’ track team finished second in a quad meet hosted by Mount Vernon on Tueday. Mount Vernon won with 76.5 points, while the Scots had 63 with Fredericktown and Centerburg rounding out the teams.

The Lady Scots picked up a pair of relay wins, as Jenna Brown, Meg Mitchell, Erin Conner and Taylor Belcher took the 800-meter relay in 2:00.46, while Brown, Conner, Hailey Howard and Mitchell won the 400-meter relay in 57.67. Laura

Spearman claimed first in the 1600 with a time of 5:44.72 and also took the 800 in 2:37.89. Belcher added a win in the 400 in 66.25, while Lydia Morgan claimed the discus in 99’3”.

The boys were fourth in the meet. Austyn Albanese, Garrett Mentzer, Dakota Bunting and Kaden Bunting teamed up to win the 1600-meter relay in 3:36.78, while Albanese also won the 400 in 53.41.
