In seventh grade basketball, Mount Gilead edged Highland 18-17 Monday in a close game.
MG took a 7-4 lead after the first quarter of play, which they increased to a 14-10 margin at the half and a 16-11 score after three quarters. Highland would outscore their opponents 6-2 in the fourth quarter, but fell just short of knotting the score after regulation.
