Cardington claimed a huge Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win by topping Elgin 45-30 on Friday.

The Pirates jumped out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter, which they boosted to a 23-10 margin by halftime. The Comets trimmed four points off their deficit in the third period, but Cardington clinched the win by taking the fourth 12-6.

Kyndall Spires led all scorers with 17 points for the Pirates, while both Alyson Adams and Sage Brannon added eight.

Northmor Knights

Northmor’s girls defeated East Knox 59-30 in a Friday basketball game.

The Knights got off to a strong start, taking a 14-5 lead after the opening eight minutes of play. Leading 22-12 at the half, Northmor finished the game strongly, taking the third quarter 23-9 and the fourth by a 14-9 margin.

Highland Scots

Friday, Highland kept up with Centerburg in the first half, but struggled in the second in a 43-25 loss to the Trojans.

The score was 13-7 in favor of Centerburg after one quarter of play and 21-16 at the half. However, Highland was outscored 12-5 in the third quarter and 10-4 in the fourth.

Parker Steck finished with 10 points to pace the Scots.
