Visiting Cardington picked up their second straight win, improving to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, with a 34-0 road win over Elgin Friday.

The Pirates jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter on three scores by Daniel Kill. He opened the game by running for a four-yard touchdown and then caught passes of 18 and 28 yards from Luke McCarrell for two more scores. Brandon Steckel added a pair of extra point kicks on three tries.

With the score still 20-0 entering the third quarter, the Pirates scored on a 35-yard run by Scott Osborne and then got Kill’s fourth touchdown of the game, this time on a six-yard run. Steckel added the point-after kick on both scores.

Cardington outgunned their opponents 402-132 with 271 of that total coming on the ground. Osborne ran for 154 yards, while David Cain tallied 71 and Kill finished with 41. McCarrell completed six passes for 131 yards, with Devin Pearl nabbing two receptions for 53 yards and Kill tallying two catches for 40 more.
