Mount Gilead’s middle school girls’ cross country team has had a successful season, pulling off seven straight wins in invitationals.

Before their Saturday win at North Union, the Lady Indians topped the field at both Fredericktown and Lancaster recently. On Sept. 26 at the Bob Reall Invitational held at Lancaster High School, they finished first in the small-school race with 46 points. Second-place Woodridge had 85.

Ally Johnson ran fourth in 12:47. Also, Baylee Hack was ninth, Maddie Fitzpatrick took 10th, Emily Hanft ran 14th, Olivia Millisor placed 19th, Auna Tack was 27th, Selia Shipman finished 36th, Bridgette Millisor was 37th, Makayla Weaver ran 54th and McKenzie Andrews placed 88th.

In the open race, Monica Lawrence was 118th and Dakota Shipman finished 150th.

For the boys, who took 12th place, Gavvin Keen led the way, running 27th in 12:25. Also, Kooper Keen was 35th, Brett Shipman ran 54th, Josh Sullivan was 67th, Turner Fitzpatrick was 98th, Eric Mowery finished 99th and Zac Lester was 143rd.

At Fredericktown on Sept. 29, the girls scored 43 points to place first. Northmor took second with 59.

Baylee Hack led the team, placing fourth in 12:36. Also, Ally Johnson was fifth, Emily Hanft placed eighth, Maddie Fitzpatrick was 16th, Olivia Millisor took 17th, Auna Tack ran 21st, Selia Shipman finished 27th, Bridgette Millisor was 34th, Makayla Weaver ran 46th, McKenzie Andrews placed 107th, Monica Lawrence was 144th, Skye Bivens finished 159th and Dakota Shipman took 162nd.

The boys finished eighth in that meet, with Gavvin Keen finishing 19th in 12:27. Also, Brett Shipman was 27th, Kooper Keen ran 35th, Josh Sullivan took 44th, Turner Fitzpatrick placed 107th, Eric Mowery was 115th and Zac Lester ran 175th.

Cardington Pirates

The Cardington junior high boys’ cross country team placed third of 13 teams at Crestline Tuesday.

Mason White finished third in 11:51.14 to lead the team, while Sonny Grooms was seventh, Miles Grooms took 39th, Sam McKee finished 45th, Alex Queener ran 59th, Tyler Kintz placed 94th, Joel Yockey was 100th and Aaron Stepp placed 103rd.

In the girls’ race, Cardington was fourth. Taylor Linkous took 16th place in 13:56.53 for the Pirates. Also, Isabelle Crum was 19th, Emily Benson ran 25th, Bella Scurlock took 31st, Elizabeth Long ran 38th, Casey Bertke placed 49th, Marlo Young was 56th, Tess Ruehrmund placed 104th and Mikaela Osborne took 111th.
