Colonel Crawford and Northmor turned in dominating performances to win the team championships at the Buckeye Central Cross Country Invitational last Saturday.

Speedy Eagles win again

Led by sophomore Chad Johnson, the Eagles cruised to victory in the boys’ meet for the fourth consecutive year. Colonel Crawford tallied 30 points. Carey was a distant second with 81 points. Marion Harding came in third with 89 points and Northmor scored 108 points to take fourth place.

Johnson won the race with a time of 15 minutes, 43.35 seconds, his fastest time of the season. Trevor Cook from Carey came in second with a time of 16:16.69. Highland’s Devin Johnson placed third, posting a time of 16:29.33.

Johnson was one of four Colonel Crawford runners to place among the top six athletes in the field of 133 at BCHS.

Brad Bauer, Nick Studer and Brandon Long claimed places four, five and six, respectively, in the individual standings. Bauer posted a time of 16:43.45. Studer hit the finish line in 17:04.57. Long finished the course in 17:12.61.

Wade Hopkins placed 14th to round out the top five Eagles runners. His time was 17:29.37.

A.J. White was the top placer for Northmor, finishing in eighth place with a time of 17:23.35. Spencer Adams came in 13th place with a time of 17:29.06. James Walker claimed 16th place, posting a time of 17:39.53. Alec Moore finished in 34th place with a time of 18:47.74. Kaleb Hart took 39th place with a time of 18:54.38.

In addition to Johnson’s third-place finish, Highland’s top five runners turned in the following results: Collin Kipp (36th, 18:49.5), Christian Buchholz (44th, 19:06.01), Dalton Lee (46th, 19:10.41), Chandler Bumpus (52nd, 19:31.75).

Crestline’s top five runners posted the following results: Kaleb Carver (49th, 19:20.54), Kevin Winkler (89th, 20:41.99), Noah Hunt (92nd, 20:59.03), Brian Wonder (111th, 22:21.7), Trenton Gray (118th, 22:54.29).

Wynford runners recorded the following results: Timothy Chandler (57th, 19:37.61), Seth Karcher (61st, 19:52.84), Joshua Rose (74th, 20:13.46), Ethan Hall (96th, 21:14.17), Noah Smith (101st, 21:21.57).

Trenton Langjahr was Buckeye Central’s top participant. He placed 68th with a time of 20:06.43. The Bucks did not figure in the team results.

Lady’s Knight at Buckeye Central

Northmor benefited from three runners in the top 10 and five among the first 20 placers to win the girls’ team championship at Buckeye Central. Kristen Duryea placed second, posting a time of 19:50.79 to pace the Knights to victory.

Isabelle Ditullio claimed fourth place for Northmor, finishing the race in 20:12.9. Samantha Peters finished in sixth place, recording a time of 20:38.56.

Brooke Bennett crossed the finish line in 21:18.41 to take 14th place. Reanne McDonald posted a time of 21:34.64 to grab 19th place.

The Knights finished with 44 points to top the team table. Colonel Crawford placed second with 100 points. Hopewell-Loudon came in third place, scoring 106 points. Plymouth was fourth with 119 points.

Claire Reynolds from Mansfield Christian won the race, finishing in 19:15.67. Carey’s Destiny DeFeo placed third with a time of 20:04.61.

Anna Reffey was the top runner for Colonel Crawford. She placed fifth, posting a time of 20:27.42.

Emily Kemper came in 13th place with a time of 21:11.12. Courtney Britt finished in 16th place, recording a time of 21:19.19.

Rounding out the top five Eagles were Haley Laughbaum and Alyssa Spears. Laughbaum hit the finish line 22:59.16 to claim 29th place. Spears posted a time of 23:39.03, good for 41st place.

Highland’s Sophia Thompson came in seventh place, completing the course in 20:44.59. Laura Spearman placed 12th with a time of 21:10.54. Jena Buchholz came in 25th with a time of 22:19.56. Olivia Longhenry placed 46th with a time of 23:49.05. Elizabeth Jensen finished 50th, posting a time of 23:54.13.

Caitlyn Harley of Crestline came in 30th place. She finished the course in 23:07.55. Summer Mowry finished in 91st place with a time of 28:00.69. The Bulldogs did not score in the team standings.

Tamara Metzger was Buckeye Central’s top runner. She placed 36th with a time of 23:29.4. Following are the places and times for her Buckettes teammates: Kendra Stahl (49th, 23:53.55), Zoe Rutledge (66th, 25:22.15), Haley Kalb (81st, 26:36.74), Jordyn Kaple (82nd, 26:37.48).

Wynford’s top five featured the following runners: Morgan Beaschler (47th, 23:50.96), Katherine Hall (59th, 24:19.08), Hannah Weithman (68th, 25:33.52), Annie Fienning (69th, 25:33.78), Alexa Oberlander (99th, 30:11.01).
