Mount Gilead edged Highland by an 83-78 margin on Tuesday night in a game hosted by the Scots.

The Indians jumped out to a 19-13 margin after the first quarter, but Highland had closed within a 34-33 score by the half. However, a 24-13 edge in the third period staked MG to a 58-48 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Highland was able to outscored their opponents 30-25 over that time, but couldn’t quite catch up to Mount Gilead.

Jackson Huffer hit four three-pointers in scoring a game-high 25 points for Mount Gilead. Matthew Bland and Paul Butterman both tallied 14 points and Elijah Chafin and Carter Kennon both added 13. Highland was led by Jordan Bellamy’s 21 points, while Brock Church added 20. Bellamy had three three-pointers in the game, while Church tallied four. Also, Garrett Fitzpatrick scored 10, Gavin Debord finished with nine and Gavin Hankins had eight.
