The Cardington boys’ golf team placed third Tuesday at the Darby Creek sectional to advance to next week’s district meet, which will be held Wednesday at Denison Golf Club, Granville. The Pirates had a team score of 372, which claimed the third and final qualifying spot by three strokes over Shekinah Christian.

Danny Vaught led the team by finishing tied for 13th place with a round of 90. Cayman Spires shot 93 to tie for 17th place, while Logan Doubikin was 19th (94) and Jacob Spires tied for 20th (95). Also, Liam Warren shot 113 to tie for 33rd.

Northmor’s Hayes Bentley advanced to the district tournament by finishing in a tie for third overall at the same meet.

Bentley was the top individual on a non-qualifying team, shooting 80 on the 18-hole course. Ryan Bentley finished in a tie for 15th with a round of 91, while Aaron Berg tied for 29th by shooting 110. Also, Isaac Schnuerer was 40th, shooting 133. Overall, the team was sixth.

Division II Boys’ Sectionals

Mount Gilead finished sixth in the Division II sectional golf meet hosted by Oakhaven Golf Course, while Highland took ninth.

Jason Bolha led the Indians, finishing tied for 16th with a round of 85. Zac Trimble tied for 33rd (92), while Brad Landon was 36th (95), Mitchell Bell tied for 39th (97) and Jacob Lodge tied for 43rd (98).

For Highland, Gunner Oakley placed in a tie for 18th by scoring 86. Dillon Lehman tied for 33rd (92), Sam LoPiccolo was in a tie for 43rd (98) and both Drew Santo and Owen Mott tied for 40th (105th).
