Northmor claimed an easy win over Mansfield Senior on Saturday, claiming a 25-6, 25-12, 25-9 win over the Tygers.

Jordyn Zoll finished with five aces and 28 assists, while Caitlin Thebeault picked up seven digs, eight kills and 13 assists. Anna Donner added one block, two aces, seven digs and 15 kills and Kelsie Fike had nine kills and an ace.

Hanna Bentley had three aces and three kills, while Leslie Brubaker finished with a block and three kills. Also, Aly Blunk picked up seven digs and Hope Miracle had three kills.

Highland Scots

Highland won a Saturday non-conference battle at home with Big Walnut. The Scots dropped the first set 25-20 and trailed 16-12 in the second before battling back to take it 27-25 before winning the third 25-15 and the fourth by a 25-23 margin to improve to 5-0.

Cardington Pirates

In the first week of the volleyball season, the Cardington Pirates spilt six games.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, they won on the road against North Union by scores of 25-23, 20-25, 23-25, 25-17 and 15-13. After that hard-fought win, they fell in their next two matches. On Tuesday, visiting Pleasant defeated them in a hard-fought three sets by scores of 23-25, 27-29 and 20-25. Then, on Thursday, Centerburg edged them in five sets by a 25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 25-27, 11-15 margin.

On Saturday, the Pirates hosted an eight-team invitational and finished third. They opened with a 25-19, 25-11 win over Northridge, but then were topped 17-25, 16-25 by Johnstown. In the third-place match, they outscored River Valley by scores of 25-15, 27-25.
