The Cardington girls jumped out to the early lead in the Division III District Two track meet at Watkins Memorial on Tuesday.

Cardington tallied 32 points in the field events to jump out to the lead, while Mount Gilead was second with 24 and Northmor placed sixth with 17.

Nadia Kerman led the Pirates by winning two events. She placed first in the shot put with an effort of 38’0.25” and also won the discus with a heave of 118’4”. Cardington had two other regional qualifiers on the day. Sage Brannon was third in the long jump with a leap of 16’6.75” and Lilly Grooms took the same place in the pole vault by clearing 9’4”.

Mount Gilead’s Savannah Randall advanced to regionals in two events. She was third in both the discus (110’7”) and shot put (33’4”) on the day. Also, Corrin Watts was fifth in the high jump, Skylar Edwards finished fifth in the shot and Jadyn Shipman took fifth in the pole vault.

For Northmor, Hope Miracle won the pole vault with an effort of 9’8” to move on. Julianna Ditullio also advanced to regionals by placing fourth in the long jump with an effort of 15’9”. Selena Cortez added a seventh-place finish in the shot put.

In the District Two boys’ meet, MG was in second place after the field events with 42 points, while Cardington scored two to be ninth.

Bryceton Gaines finished second in the long jump for the Indians with a leap of 20’0.75”. Also moving on was Nick McKinney, who placed fourth in the discus with an effort of 115’3”.

Isaac Arrington was fifth in both the shot and discus, while Colten Clark took fifth in the pole vault and Kyle White was sixth in that event. Also, Micah Tuggle finished sixth in the shot, Aaron Bear was sixth in the long jump and Ethan Supplee finished seventh in the high jump.

Cardington’s Mason Goers finished seventh in the long jump to score Cardington’s points on the day.

In the District One meet in Division III, Northmor was in fourth place with five points after Tuesday. The only final contested was the 3200-meter relay, where the quartet of A.J. White, James Walker, Alec Moore and Mostyn Evans ran fourth in 8:49.57.

Division II

Highland competed in the first day of the Division II track meet hosted by Westerville South.

For the girls, the 3200-meter relay team of Taylor Belcher, Laura Spearman, Christina Rose and Alex Debord ran fourth in 10:31.27 to advance to regionals.

In the boys’ meet, Zach Baker was fifth in the discus to barely miss out on a trip to regionals.
