Mount Gilead rallied in the second half to avenge a pair of losses to Pleasant over the course of the past year in the sectional playoffs on Wednesday, taking a 70-68 decision on the road.

The Indians, who fell by a 53-39 margin in January and also saw last season’s tournament run end in double overtime to the Spartans in the district semifinals, found themselves in a hole at the half. After both teams scored 17 points in the first quarter, Pleasant took a 19-13 edge in the second to lead 36-30 at the half.

Mount Gilead would trim three points off that deficit in the third period, though, and then outscored their hosts 21-16 in the fourth to finish on top by a two-point margin.

Zack Hosack was instrumental in the win, hitting four three-pointers and finishing with a game-high 26 points. Mason Mollohan added 17 and Austin Vanderkooi scored 16.
