Mount Gilead took an early lead over Centerburg Friday night, but would not be able to hold on in the road game, losing by a 21-13 margin.

Jonah Barnett opened the game’s scoring for the Indians, putting the ball into the end zone on a 10-yard run. Scott Page’s extra point made the score 7-0 early.

However, the Trojans scored later in the opening period and then added two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-7 lead into the half. Barnett scored on a 57-yard run in the third quarter to bring the team within eight points, but MG wouldn’t be able to get over the hump.

Barnett finished with 128 rushing yards and also threw a pass for 45. Anthony Clark added 65 yards on the ground, while Mason Mollohan caught three passes for 53 yards.

Northmor Knights

Northmor was outlasted by visiting Fredericktown on Friday in a 22-14 decision.

The Knights got a one-yard run by Jordan Wiseman followed by a two-point pass from WIseman to Garrett Gillispie in the first quarter to take an early lead, but gave up eight points to tie the game. Fredericktown added six points in the third quarter.

Northmor tied the game in the fourth on a two-yard pass from Wiseman to Kolton Smith, but the Freddies got a touchdown and two-point conversion later in the quarter to take the win.
