Cardington’s two district-qualifying golfers saw their season end on Wednesday.

Competing in the girls’ Division II district meet hosted by Darby Creek, Nadia Kerman tied for fourth with a score of 84. Only the top team and top individual on a non-qualifying team got to advance to state, though, and Kerman finished two strokes in back of state-advancing Crystal Hanbaum of Lakewood, who won a two-hole playoff to qualify.

In the boys’ Division III meet at Apple Valley, Austin Yake competed for the Pirates. He shot 87 over the 18 holes to finish in a tie for 16th place in the meet.

Division II girls’ sectional

Nadia Kerman of Cardington advanced to the Division II district golf meet by virtue of claiming the third individual qualifying spot at the sectional meet hosted by Mill Creek Golf Course.

Kerman shot 91 to finish sixth overall and third among individuals not on a qualifying team. She will compete Wednesday at Darby Creek Golf Course in Marysville for the right to advance to the state meet.

A number of other local girls participated in the meet. Mount Gilead’s Mallory Graham finished 10th with a score of 94. Kerman’s teammate Sage Brannon tied for 22nd with 108 shots. Northmor also had two golfers in the meet, as Isabelle Szulewski tied for 26th with a round of 116 and Kamryn Ingles finished 37th with 126 shots.
