There were 79 participants in the annual Willard Beam Memorial Trapshoot held Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Cardinal Center, Marengo. It was hosted by Johnsville Post 754.

The participants were members of 18 teams, 14 Legion divisions and five Non-Legion divisions.

Mike McKinney, of Mount Gilead, a member of the host post, was High Senior Veteran winner over 70. Billy Noice, of Johnstown, was high child under 18 winner and high husband and wife winners were Carolyn and Mark Holmes of New Washington. Jodi Beam of Edison, Post 97, was High Lady winner and Wayne Slaughter, Post 65 Coshocton, was Hi-overall with 97 out of 100. The Hi 5 Man team was also from Post 65. Each of these winners was awarded a Legion trophy.

The memorial tournament is held each year on the second Sunday in September in memory of Willard Beam, an active member of Jenkins-Vaughan Post 97, Cardington, and an ardent supporter of trap shooting.

Officers with the tournament are McKinney, Mount Gilead, president; Darin Beam, vice president; Marengo; Zach Holmer, treasurer, Republic; Mark Holmer, Committeeman, Attica and Bruce Scohy, secretary, Mount Gilead.
