Honda Racing and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course invite fans to get festive during The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio weekend by camping and participating in Christmas in July themed activities for the return of the #CampingWithHonda initiative.

Honda Racing will host activities for all race fans during the event weekend. Activities on Saturday will feature an “Ugly Hawaiian Shirt” contest judged by Honda Racing Verizon IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe, and a community bonfire and s’mores Saturday night, with live music provided by Columbus’ premier party band “MidLife Crisis”. For a little friendly competition off the track, there will be a tent and motorhome decorating contest for all guests camping and RVing at Mid-Ohio during the event weekend. All participants vying for the best-decorated tent site or motor home spot in keeping with the Christmas in July theme will receive a Honda Indy 200 gift.

Santa will choose the preliminary finalists, followed by Honda Racing Verizon IndyCar Series drivers Graham Rahal and Conor Daly visiting the sites Saturday afternoon to judge decor and choose their favorites. Grand Prize winners will experience a Pace Car ride around the track, while runners-up will receive great Honda camping gear. Participants are encouraged to post and get involved on social media with the hashtag #CampingWithHonda, and to share their photos and comments about the festivities. In addition, Verizon is joining Honda to celebrate the Christmas in July spirit by selecting and awarding the five most connected campsites that use wireless-enabled technology to bring their holiday spirit to life.

On Sunday, race fans can find Santa in the Honda Fan Zone. For a donation to the James Cancer Center in Columbus, fans will receive a commemorative Christmas in July Honda Indy 200 ornament.

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio takes place July 29-31 and will feature weekend headliner the Verizon IndyCar Series; the Mazda Road to Indy ladder with Indy Lights, Pro Mazda Championship and USF2000 Championship; and the Pirelli World Challenge.

Guests wishing to reserve camping of RV spots may do so by calling 419-884-4000 or by visiting www.midohio.com. A Weekend General Admission ticket is required in order to purchase a Tent Camping or Motor Home Camping pass.
