The 2016 Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, a regular stop on the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association annual schedule, takes place June 24-26 at the historic road course and will present an activities-rich three days to launch the 55th season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Some People Collect Art… We Race It” is the SVRA motto. As one of the oldest organizations in vintage racing, and the only one with a national presence, SVRA is committed to presenting the best the possible experience for competitors and fans alike. From 200 MPH Indy and Formula 1 cars to classic Jaguars and Porsches, SVRA events provide a rolling history of motorsport where the cars are the stars at legendary tracks across the country.

Mid-Ohio’s park-like venue makes the track in Lexington, Ohio an ideal weekend and entertaining gathering place for families and auto sports fans of all stripes.

Classics versus muscle cars will be on the Mid-Ohio menu as Britain’s iconic MGs will be the featured marque for the weekend and the Shelby American Automobile Club with its Cobra muscle cars will celebrate its 41st annual convention and 50th year this summer. More than 250 competitors will take part over the three day event.

“The SVRA weekend is an ideal way to start a hot summer at Mid-Ohio,” said Craig Rust, President of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “There will be non-stop action all weekend and something for all ages, on and off the track. Celebrating the history and heritage of racing and showcasing these special cars is the perfect start to our season.”

A variety of events comprises the SVRA weekend, including races and sprints in a broad range of classes and car corrals. There will be two Hawk performance Endurance Series events, a Stuttgart Cup series race and a SAAC feature race over the weekend.

Two popular, traditional aspects of the SVRA weekend return in 2016, the 18th annual British Car Showdown on Saturday, June 25, which includes British classics and various nostalgic forms of British automotive innovation. As well, classics of all makes and models and colors, shapes and sizes will be on display throughout Sunday, June 26 for the Concours d’Elegance with the beautiful cars participating in this show taking a turn around the track at lunchtime. There is also the opportunity to enjoy lunch and prime viewing during the weekend from The Mid-Ohio Deck.
