Letter to the Editor

Each year Turning Point celebrates by having an open house at our Marion location. This year, “Picnic on the Porch” will take place Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is open to the community and will feature free food, tours and a dessert competition where guests judge the offerings from staff with monetary donations. All proceeds from this competition go to United Way.

As Turning Point is currently working on our second location in Delaware, it is my honor to share with you that we will also be having an open house at our build site. “Party in the Barn” will be a celebration of our capital campaign progress.

This event is open to the community and will also feature free food, tours and a pumpkin carving competition where guests judge offerings from staff with monetary donations.

This will be a wonderful event to launch the next leg of both shelter construction and fundraising for this second shelter. We are honored to be able to expand our services to better accommodate those from our service area — Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Union and Wyandot counties — and beyond.

These open house events require a lot of assistance. If you are available to volunteer at either shelter prior to or during the event. Please follow the volunteer link below. You will also find our Christmas volunteerism opportunities.

If you are interested in group or individual volunteerism but do not see something for you, please respond and I will happily work with you.
