Vacations are over and the beginning of the school year is just around the corner. It’s the time of year when many families get back into busy routines of work, school, extracurricular, and family activities. In the midst of this flurry of activity, exercise routines often get pushed to the side. There are some ways to ensure, though, that staying healthy and in shape doesn’t get lost in all of the other activities cluttering daily life.

Incorporating exercise into your existing activities may be easier than you think! Wearing a pedometer can help you keep track of how far you walk in an average day. Most healthy adults should walk at least 10,000 steps per day, so you can take the stairs instead of the elevator, go for a short walk at lunch, or park farther away from the grocery store in order to meet your goal! Doing simple floor exercises or using home gym equipment can turn a half hour in front of the television into a work out, and exercising with friends and family means that you do not have to sacrifice socializing for exercise!

For a more intense workout regimen, make sure to schedule your exercise time as you would any other appointment. Additionally, making a financial investment in your fitness routine, such as purchasing a gym membership or new workout clothes, may encourage you to be more active so as not to waste your investment. Getting up early or reserving half of your lunch hour for a workout will both allow you to carve out time for exercise each day.

The Galion YMCA makes it easy for members with busy schedules to make time for fitness. With early morning, evening, and weekend hours, exercise is convenient at any time of the day. The remolded locker room facilities even make it easy to workout midday and return to the office! Members who crave routine and support can access the Y’s personal training services. The YMCA also offers childcare services for members who are working out or taking classes. The supervised facility offers a variety of activities for kids of all ages.
