Sports reporting procedure
Coaches of local sports teams in Morrow County are asked to submit results of contests (including statistics) their teams compete in to the Morrow County Sentinel. Results may be submitted in several fashions.
Coaches may call the Sentinel at 419-946-3010, extension #1807 or fax them to 419-932-6782. Results also may be emailed to either MCSsports@civitasmedia.com or email@example.com .
Northmor Athletic Boosters holding golf scramble
The Northmor Athletic Booster golf scramble is scheduled for Sept. 7 at Pine Lakes Golf Club. There will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Cost is $240 per four-man team. Deadline to register is Aug. 22

Mount Gilead Youth Football holding late registrations
Mount Gilead Youth Football late registrations are Monday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the football field above the Mount Gilead pool. This is also the first night of conditioning/camp.

MGMS football notes
Practice for athletes interested in playing seventh and eighth grade football this year for Mount Gilead Middle School will begin on Monday, Aug. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the middle school football field by the elementary building.
Athletes will need to bring all necessary paperwork on this day (sports physical, emergency medical form, insurance form, etc.). Extra paperwork will be on hand if needed, but the most important paper to have completed is the sports physical.
The only cost to playing football this year is a player’s purchase of their own football cleats. Everything else will be provided.

Highland Middle School important sports dates
Highland Middle School football camp will be July 29 to Aug. 1 from 8-10 a.m. at the middle school. Football practice will begin Aug. 4 at the middle school from 8-10:30 a.m.
Volleyball will begin Aug. 1 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the middle school, while cross country will begin Aug. 1, starting at 7 p.m. behind the middle school. Cheerleading will begin Aug. 4 from 8-10 a.m. at the middle school.
All sports are asked to be sure to bring all of the appropriate paperwork on the first day of practice (physical sheet, emergency medical form, proof of insurance, concussion sheet and athletic guidelines).

Kiwanis Club of Mount Gilead holding golf outing
The Kiwanis Club of Mount Gilead will be holding their first golf outing on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Galion Country Club.
This will be an 18-hole, handicapped event that includes a cart, lunch, prizes and steak dinner.
Proceeds benefit Morrow County Student Scholarships and the Eliminate Project.

Knox County Babe Ruth sign-ups coming up
The 2014 Knox County Babe Ruth Baseball League sign ups will be held July 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the announcers booth at Babe Ruth field, Memorial Park Mount Vernon. Players from Knox County and surrounding counties are welcome.
Players who have completed final year of L.L. and ages 13, 14, 15, and players who played last year as a 15 year old are eligible. Please bring a copy of birth certificate as well as the fee of $100. For an additional child, the fee is $85.

Flippin 5K run on July 26
The Mid-Ohio Gymnastics Booster Club will be holding the Flippin 5K XC Run on Saturday, July 26 at 9 a.m. at Marion Harding High School.
Currently, registration costs $25 and t-shirts will be based on availability. The entry fee is non-refundable with all proceeds benefiting the Mid-Ohio Boosters Club.
The race will take place behind Harding HS on a grass/field course (not a road race). Race day registration and check-in for online registrants will be in the parking lot of Harding HS. Registration tables will open at 8 a.m. and plenty of parking will be available.
Awards will be presented to the top two overall male and female finishers, as well as the top two males and females in each age group.
A 1/2 mile fun run will also be held the morning of the event. Registration for the fun run will be held the morning of the race and is free. Shirts will not be included. The fun run will start at the conclusion of the 5K.

Sulphur Springs holding annual 5K race
A 5K race will be held Friday, July 25, at 7 p.m. in Sulphur Springs, Ohio (6.5 miles northeast of Bucyrus on Ohio 98) in conjunction with the Liberty Township Fireman’s Annual Festival.
Trophies will be given to the first two finishers in both male and female categories and the first man and woman in the Masters division. Plaques will be awarded to the first three finishers in 15 age divisions (14-and-under to 80-and-over) for both male and female.
Cost is $13 on race day with cap if one of first 100 registered.

OHSAA football officiating class starting in July
An OHSAA football officiating class will begin Monday, July 28 in the library at Delaware Hayes High School. Classes will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
