Local Students Can Register for Youth in Government at the Ohio Statehouse
COLUMBUS– State Senator Dave Burke (R–Marysville) announced recently that Ohio high school students can now sign up for the Youth Leadership Association’s Youth in Government program, which will be held at the Ohio Statehouse April 10, 11, and 12 2014.
“This is an excellent opportunity for students to fully engage their knowledge of state government right inside the capitol building itself,” said Burke. “While they are learning about the legislative process in their class rooms, this great program gives them the chance to put their book knowledge to work and see how the Statehouse operates every day.”
YLA Youth in Government has a proven track record of quality programing. Alumni include former Ohio Governor Dick Celeste, Ohio House Speaker William G. Batchelder, and the late Chief Justice Tom Moyer. The Ohio Senate has been an active participant since the program began in 1952.
Students can sign up for the YLA Student Legislature and Supreme Court program by contacting YLA Youth in Government at 614-664-9521 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Interested parties can also contact Senator Burke’s office by calling (614) 466-9009 or emailing Burke@OhioSenate.gov.
