The Ohio Department of Education has announced that the deadline to apply for an EdChoice or Income-Based scholarship is now extended to September 5. The application window was originally scheduled to close August 1.
“We’re pleased that parents are being given this chance to find a school that best fits their child’s learning needs,” said School Choice Ohio Executive Director Matt Cox.
Families who apply during the extended window will still follow the same steps to apply. You can find those application steps for the EdChoice program by clicking here, and the Income-Based application steps are available here.
As mentioned in their release, the extended deadline allows time to determine if schools were left off the EdChoice eligible schools list due to data scrubbing.
“The right to a better education shouldn’t be denied by those looking to cheat the system,” said Cox. “We applaud the Ohio Department of Education for working to correct this wrong.”
If the department finds that any of the schools should have been on the EdChoice list, those schools will be added and their students will be eligible to apply for a scholarship.
School Choice Ohio will continue to reach out to eligible families and guide them through the application process. Already, we have reached thousands of families across Ohio who can’t wait to send their children to the school of their choice this year.
Our school choice counselors are available to answer questions and help families learn about all their education options. Families can reach School Choice Ohio’s counselors by calling 1-800-673-5876.
