Due to summer pastimes the July activities of the Morrow County TEA Party (a non-partisan organization), Study Night and Movie Night, were suspended. The regular meeting of the TEA Party on July 21 opened with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Sylvia Rickett reported on the first six months voting record of Congressman Pat Tiberi, how he voted as to adherence to constitutional principles. According to the Freedom Index he scored 40% out of a possible 100%. The Freedom Index is a Congressional Scorecard based on the U.S. Constitution, it rates congressmen based on their adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements. At the August 18, meeting, copies of this index will be given out. The Freedom Index scores all U.S. Senators and Congressman.
Speaker Wayne Rinehart told of his research and study of several governments, the founding fathers, and events leading up to the Declaration. Note that it was not known as the Declaration of Independents at the time of its writing and presentation.
Food items were collected for distribution to No Limits Outreach Center.
The next regular meeting of the Morrow County TEA party is August 18, 7:00 p.m., at the Mount Gilead Library Annex, 34 E. High Street in the rear. The speaker will be Warren Davis, write-in candidate for Morrow County Commissioner.
The Morrow County TEA Party will have a Booth in the Commercial Building at the Morrow County Fair August 25 – September 1, 2014. Stop by and visit us. We will have much information available to hand out and we will be happy to answer questions you may have.
We also have started a new raffle. It is a 50/50 raffle, with 200 tickets to be sold for $5.00 each. Drawing will take place after all tickets are sold.
In October Study Night will resume studying “Proclaim Liberty Throughout all the Land” Part 2. Movie Night will also resume in October.
All activities of the Morrow County TEA Party are open to the public and all are welcome.
