Eleven members of the Wayside Garden Club answered roll call at the July 17 meeting by answering what new plant they tried this summer.
The May minutes were approved as read. The June 21 meeting was a gardener’s day out. Members toured Fargo Herbs and then enjoyed lunch at the Farmstead.
Following the committee reports, it was decided to schedule a fall clean-up of the uptown garden, date to be determined. Due to weather conditions and other factors it was decided to forgo this year’s garden hop.
Mandy Rocks reported that the club received a Superior rating on our program book. Erica Grooms asked members if they would like to enter the “Table Setting” contest for judging at the State Convention in August. The answer was yes.
Everyone was reminded that the August 9 meeting will be held at Trudy Oliver’s barn. The program is making Leaf Stepping Stones. They will need to bring a leaf or leaves as a “mold.” Also bring dust masks, work/rubber gloves and wear work clothes.
They were also reminded that the next Gardener’s Day Out on July 19 is a tour of the Lilies of the Field followed by lunch at Granny’s Kitchen.
Members then critiqued Marcia Lawyer’s triangular arrangement according to OAGC criteria.
After adjournment everyone enjoyed refreshments provided by hostesses Marcia Lawyer and Sue Quigley.
