The picking is good in the thicket! So new owner and entrepreneur Mandy Martin of The Briar Patch describes the quaint, little family-owned shop rich with country, primitive, and unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that are perfect for gifting or decorating.

She also has several local consignment items to choose from as well as handmade crafts and seasonal items.

Needing a change in her life and in an effort to be more accessible to her family and children, she purchased The Briar Patch last October. Mandy worked for the postal service as a mail carrier in the Centerburg area for 12 years prior to buying the gift shop from Kelly Howard.

If you are too busy to get out and shop, or prefer shopping online Mandy will ship any store items directly to you. Check out The Briar Patch facebook page or www.briarpatchprimitives.com for available items.

Located in the historic district of Mount Gilead at 42 South Main Street, the hometown shop offers everything from candles to furniture for your primitive home décor. Currently, store hours are Tuesday through Saturday 9 – 3 and 4:30 – 8:00 pm. Stop by the gift shop and peruse the thicket for local treasures and gifts. Don’t forget to give Marley a scratch on the head!
