The women of Sacred Hearts Parish hosted their annual Holiday Craft Bazaar on November 16, in what turned out to be one of the last public events held at the church on U.S. Route 42, which burned to the ground less than 2 weeks later. As church rebuilding efforts are underway, the Bazaar Committee is already beginning to plan for next year’s Bazaar, which will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at a location to be announced.

The Committee reported that this year’s Bazaar was the most successful ever, attracting 26 quality craft vendors from the area and over 350 attendees. Funds raised from the raffle, the Chinese auction, food and bake sales, and vendor fees help support the Sacred Hearts Parish and local outreach efforts, including contributions to the Knights of Columbus for Christmas baskets for 20 needy Morrow County families. “Our parish family wishes to thank all the local businesses and individuals whose generous donations made this year’s Bazaar such a success,” commented Julie Blankenship, 2013 Bazaar Chair. “We are looking forward to next year.” One possible location for the 2014 Bazaar is the Cardington-Lincoln Intermediate School on CR 168, which is being used temporarily by members of Sacred Hearts Church for services and other parish activities.
