SPARTA — The Highland FFA Chapter held its first official meeting of the year Wednesday, Sept. 13. This is one of the most important meetings of the year, seeing as the officers get to meet the 2017-2018 Greenhand FFA members.

A Greenhand is a first year FFA member, so it is good for the team to get to know them and get to know their personal interests.

This year, the Highland FFA Chapter has gained many new members. These new members will grow in leadership, work ethic, and many other good qualities, as they spend the next four years with our chapter, making new friends, bonds, and memories.

At the beginning of the night our officers team met before the meeting to get everything set up and prepare ourselves for the first formal meeting of the year. We were all extremely excited to see the new faces and have a good time with our new members.

We all knew when the meeting started just how exciting and fun the night was going to be. We introduced ourselves one by one to the crowd. After we were finished with that, we led the Greenhands into another room as we left our advisors to talk with the parents.

Our job was to inform members about CDEs as well as SAEs, have fun and make everyone feel welcome. As Maddy Gordon, a participating Greenhand said, “We should do this once a week.”
