Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center recently recognized 15 graduating seniors from area school districts with Franklin B. Walter awards. In addition, three students were awarded $500 scholarships from the Mid-Ohio ESC Board of Governors.


Winners of the $500 Scholarship included Adam Rinehart, Galion City Schools in Crawford County; Katherine Davies, Highland Local Schools in Morrow County; and Ashley McCulloch, Madison Local Schools in Richland County.


Senior scholars demonstrating outstanding academic achievement as indicated by grades, test scores and school activities were selected by the high schools. Each student submitted an essay about a person who has had a positive impact on his or her life. These included parents, teachers and coaches.


The top students attended a dinner along with family members, school administrators and their positive impact person. Each student read his or her essay and was awarded a gift bag with items donated by area businesses.


Other students recognized at the event included Chelsea Dean, Buckeye Central; Logan Plumley, Bucyrus; Lauren Johnson, Cardington-Lincoln; Ethan Boardman, Crestview; Courtney Ahmed, Lexington; Kaila Sansom, Lucas; Megan Ludwig, Mansfield; Chelsea Trainor, Northmor; Michael Arnold, Ontario; Kilee Kimmel, Pioneer Career and Technology Center; Amy Grube, Plymouth Shiloh; and Molly Hoyda, Shelby.


Students, family members and school administrators were welcomed by Mid-Ohio ESC Superintendent Linda T. Keller and Board of Governors President Dennis Leader.


Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, located at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center at 890 W. Fourth St. in Mansfield, provides high quality, cost-effective, specialized academic/ therapy support services and professional development for school districts in the Central Ohio Region. These include offering alternative educational options, preschool education and printing services, as well as conference center facilities.
