To The Editor,
In your issue of June 25, Darl Mills claimed that Obama made several outrageous statements at a Meet the Press in September of 2008 when he was a senator. I wrote to factcheck.org and received this reply:
President Obama did not say those things. He was not even a guest on Meet the Press on that day in September 2008.
Here is a link to a story we wrote about his views on wearing a flag pin: http://www.factcheck.org/2008/04/taking-liberties-in-philadelphia/
So many people make up whatever they want to because good people like Mr. Mills will believe and repeat it. That does not make it true. Our president has been trying to help the country he loves, the United States of America. He has been confronted by trumped up accusations and a total resistance to working with him from the Republicans in congress. Yes, he has offered compromise. Yes, they used to support such things as health care and immigration reform until President Obama also was for them.
What is shameful is their lack of interest in the actual people of our country. It’s time to cooperate to fix problems, raise taxes to pay for infrastructure, dial back the power of corporations to buy elections and representatives, and reject claims that do not pass the duh test.
