This letter is in response to the defamatory letter written in regards to the “Farmers Market” in Mt Gilead printed Weds. July 30, 2014.
I am a vendor at the Market on Saturdays from 9-12 as well as my young daughter. My daughter sells her art there that she spends considerable time creating as well as gets up very early on a Saturday to set up her booth/display by 9 am. That’s quite impressive these days for a 13 year old.
But her business “Grace-Fully Repurposed” has absolutely nothing to do with promoting “Budweiser”. Neither does my booth, which are homemade baked items that fall into the following categories: totally sugar free, gluten-free, plant-based or vegan. Although my rum cake is a best seller-it doesn’t promote “Budweiser” either. Neither do the 4-5 farmers, the maple syrup vendor, amazing jams and jellies and various other crafts/homemade products.
I understand that Mr. Bowman most likely is referring to a sign that was erected for the “Sweet Corn Festival”, but it is usually a good idea to be certain that when you want to publicly defame an organization or gathering, that you actually are truthful and honest in your assessment.
Please note, I have no ill feelings towards “Budweiser”, I don’t happen to partake of their products, although “Jack” and I have been known to converse a time or two. I just felt that it was a huge injustice to all of us at the “Farmers Market” to have untruths printed in a public newspaper. But if you would like to stop out and see vendors that gather on the square every Saturday to offer the community local products we all put heart, soul and effort into making, growing or designing-we will be there from 9-12 every Saturday through September.
Mr. Bowman, I will save you a sample of rum cake if you would be so kind as to actually come out to the “Farmers Market” and not just drive by!
