A Mt. Gilead man is in jail after allegedly assaulting his young child.
In a press release issued July 9, 2014, the Mount Gilead Police Department stated they responded July 7 to a residence on East Center Street in Mount Gilead at approximately 7:50 pm after a female called 911 requesting help. The female caller reported her husband had hurt their seven month old baby.
Upon arriving at the residence, officers contacted Brittany Warrick. Warrick stated she had just arrived home from work and found her husband leaving the residence. Before leaving, he stated he had hurt the baby.
The baby was transported to Morrow County Hospital and, after being evaluated, was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The baby was admitted to the intensive care unit with a fractured skull and other injuries.
Later that night, the press release said, Clayton Warrick, 26, turned himself in and was taken into custody. Warrick is being held at the Morrow County Correctional Facility and was charged July 9, 2014 with felonious assault and one felony count of endangering children.
Additional charges are pending a Grand Jury hearing.
