Morrow County Republicans attended the Annual Republican picnic held on July 20, 2014 at the Morrow County State Lakes in Mt Gilead this year.
The picnic was hosted by the Morrow County Central Committee and the Morrow County Republican Women. The menu included pulled pork, fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and brats. The dessert was home made ice cream prepared by Sheriff, Steve Brenneman and his wife Rita. Dan Osborne thanked the committee for doing such a great job.
The Special Guest Speaker for the event was Secretary of State Jon Husted who was accompanied by his wife, Tina. Husted said his wife’s grandmother resides close to the State Lakes and was watching their 2 children while they attended the picnic.
Other statewide legislative and political leaders speaking at the event were Ohio US Congressman, Pat Tiberi who serves Ohio’s 12th district. Pat brought his wife, Denice and 4 daughters, Angelina, Cristina, Daniela and Gabriela this year to the picnic. Our Current State Representative, Jeff McClain, attended and brought his wife, Barb. Jeff is serving his third term in the Ohio House of Representatives for all the citizens of Wyandot, Crawford and Morrow counties and parts of Marion and Seneca counties. Craig Baldwin attended this years picnic with his wife and 2 daughters. Craig is the Fifth Court of Appeals Judge currently representing a district of 15 counties, Ashland, Coschocton, Delaware, Fairfield, Guernsey, Holmes, Knox, Licking, Morgan, Morrow, Muskingum, Perry, Richland, Stark and Tuscarawas counties. Supreme Court Justice Judith French advised the group that she is eligible to run for another 6 year term. Justice French told the people to ‘remember to just vote for Judge Judy when you go to the poles.’
The local elected County officials attending were, State Central Committeeman, John Matthews, Sheriff Steve Brenneman; Morrow Co Recorder, Dixie Shinaberry; Morrow County Prosecutor, Charles Howland; Pat Davies candidate for County Recorder; Commissioners Tom Harden; Thomas Whiston and Dick Miller. The 2014 annual picnic was a big success, including family and friends more than 150 people attended this year.
Music was performed by Jeremy Smith. He played his rendition of many popular songs with his trombone. His final selection brought the crowd to their feet to sing along with his music and salute the American flag. There were many people heard saying this was a perfect day for a picnic.
