6/10/14 - A one car accident Tuesday afternoon sent one woman to a Columbus hospital.


The driver of silver Volkswagon was northbound on Road 170 just south of County Road 27 about 3:17 p.m. when lost she control going up the hill, went off left side of the road, struck an embankment and pole and overturned. The pole came down to rest on the vehicle.


Witnesses at the scene said a dog may have crossed the path of the car and she swerved to avoid it.


The driver was injured but was communicating with emergency personnel. She was airlifted to OSU Medical Center in Columbus.


Responding to the scene were Morrow County EMS, Big Walnut Joint Fire District, the Ohio State Patrol and Morrow County Sheriff Steve Brenneman.


Brenneman said at least five utility trucks were on the scene to disconnect lines and remove the pole, and the road was closed for more than two hours.
