Six Mount Gilead swimmers traveled to The Ohio State University on Feb. 17 to compete in the Division II Central, East and Southeast District Tournament.

Erin Zmuda competed in the 50 free and the 100 breast. She achieved a personal best in the breaststroke event with a time of 1:14.73. Casey Conrad lowered his own school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of :58. 14, placing 12th out of 30 in that event. Evan Zmuda broke his own school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.67, placing 14th out of 30, and also earned 11th place in the 100 breaststroke.

The boys 200 medley relay (Logan Conrad, Evan Zmuda, Casey Conrad and Kurtis Brown) lowered their school record time to 1:53. 98 and scored a 10th place finish out of 30. The same foursome also improved their school record to 3:49.6 in the 400 free relay, earning 16th place. The team of L. Conrad, C. Conrad, K. Brown and Gavin Robinson also competed in the 200 free relay.

Despite the small size of the team, the boys earned a 18th place finish out of 35 teams.

“I was very proud of my swimmers. Ohio only has 2 divisions for swimming, unlike the 3-6 for football or other sports. This pits our team against very tough private schools and teams that are 4 or 5 times our size,” said coach Dina Snow. “They have worked hard and performed very well this season.”
