The Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle fatal crash that occurred on June 5 at approximately 7 p.m.

A 2015 Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound on CR 162 and a 2008 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on SR 309.

The Elantra failed to yield from a stop sign and pulled into the path of the Dodge Ram. The crash occurred on SR 309 at CR 162 in Marion Township, Marion County.

The first vehicle in the crash, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra, sustained disabling damage in the crash and was driven by Lindsay D. Hempy, 24 of Marion. She sustained incapacitating injuries in the crash and was flown via Med Flight Helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. There were two passengers in her vehicle.

The front seat passenger, Timothy Gullett, 49, was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus via Med Flight helicopter. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The back right passenger, Karson Hempy, 14, was also injured and was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. He was in a car seat.

The second vehicle involved in the crash was a 2008 Dodge Ram. It also sustained disabling damage in the crash and was driven by Robert L. Lawrence, 60, from LaRue, OH.

He sustained non-incapacitating injuries in the crash and was transported to Marion General Hospital. He was not wearing his seat belt.

The front seat passenger, Deborah Lawrence, 63, of LaRue, OH sustained non-incapacitating injuries in the crash was transported to Marion General Hospital. Seat belt use was unknown.

The back middle passenger, Kylynn M. Blankenship, 3 months, of Marion sustained non-incapacitating injuries in the crash and was transported to Mgrion General Hospital. Kylynn was secured in a child seat at the time of the crash.

The back right passenger, Olivia Kissling, 11, of Mount Gilead sustained non-incapacitating injuries in the crash was transported to Marion General Hospital.

A 2006 Honda Accord driven byArielle M. Anderson, 18, of Marion was also involved in the crash. She was wearing her seat bell and was not injured in the crash.

Assisting agencies on scene were Marion Twp. Fire/ EMS, Pleasant Twp, EMS, Med Care Ambulance, Med Flight, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital helicopter.

Alcohol and drug impairment are unknown and the crash remains under investigation.
