Marengo Country Kids held their normal monthly meeting for May.

The group’s new officers lead the meeting.

The 2016 officers are: president- Alex Mason; vice president- Kate Schmidt; secretary- Gracie Hinkle; treasurer- Audrey Robinson; reporter- Audrey Weaver; health- Mason Powell; safety- Zach Schmidt; and community service- Paige Artz.

Tonya Mason reported that members picked up trash along 11 miles of roads in Bennington Township that resulted in 81 bags of trash and seven bags of aluminum cans.

Schmidt gave a safety report about the importance of wearing helmets on a bike, a quad or a motor cycle to help prevent injuries.

Mason’s report on health was to eat healthy and drink lots of water. He pointed out that even though we may be busy this summer, we can still make healthy choices and pack nutritious snacks to eat and drink while on the go instead of choosing fast food.

Artz shared her idea’s for community service projects with the club. Please collect your pop tabs and remember to bring them to the next meeting along with a non-perishable food item to donate to the Morrow County Food Pantry.

It was reported that almost all members have attended the mandatory quality assurance meeting in order to show livestock at the fair.

The group’s next meeting will be on June 5 at 7 p.m.
