Located in the former Penny Pincher’s Store outside of Marengo, Karen’s Kids Campus is almost ready for its move across the street into the new 8,000 sq. ft complex, with enough room for 160 kids.

“This whole idea of a need in the community for a daycare facility is from the vision of Jack and Karen Fishburn. So in March of 2015 Karen’s Kids Campus opened for business. They started with a staff of 5 and about 14 students. In a year, we have grown to a staff of 12 with 52 students and we are still growing,” says Administrative Assistant for Karen’s Kids Campus, Nancy Denovcheck.

The move is an upgrade from the 1,400 sq. ft. structure the day care currently inhabits.

“We are a learning center, not just a daycare,” said The Director of Karen’s Kids Campus, Holly Schade, former Highland West kindergarten teacher. “From the time the kids get here to the time they leave they are learning.”

The learning center boasts a variety of programs starting for children from six weeks to 13-years-old. There are also pre-school programs, summer camp programs for school aged children and themed weekly learning sessions in conjunction with the Ashley Library. The core belief of this education center is to foster good character traits like caring for community.

Karen’s Kids Campus is a full time title 20 organization which hopes to be in the new facility by May 2. Hours of operation are Mon-Fri 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. More information, including the fee scale, is available on the website: www.karenskidscampus.com.

The ribbon cutting and open house are scheduled for Sat May 14, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 11:30.
