The newly opened Dollar Tree in Mount Gilead was evacuated this morning after employees called emergency personnel at approxiamately 10:15 a.m. to report smoke in the building.

Mount Gilead and Cardington Fire Departments, as well as Morrow County EMS arrived on the scene.

After investigating the parameters of the building, Mount Gilead Fire Chief Greg Young determined the “light haze around the ceiling” Dollar Tree employees reported seeing was actually construction dust.

The smoke scare closed the building for approximately 30 minutes as personnel investigated the origin of the dust. The store is now re-opened to both customers and employees.
