The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Flute Choir will present a spring concert on March 22 at 7:30 p.m., in the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium. The community is invited to this free event.

The concert will feature a variety of music. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. John Packard, will present a program entitled “Wizards and Whales” which includes music from “Harry Potter” and a musical setting of five scenes from Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick” by W. Francis McBeth titled, “Of Sailors and Whales.” MVNU senior Spanish major Aaron Turnbull will narrate the final work.

The Jazz Band, directed by Jim Puckett, will perform instrumental and vocal arrangements of jazz, pop, and Broadway standards including special tributes to the late Natalie Cole and Maurice White.

The Flute Choir, directed by Jennifer Packard, will offer a medley of songs from Richard Rodger’s “The Sound of Music.”
