December automobile sales in Crawford and Morrow counties combined got a 5.1 percent increased from December 2014, while year-to-date sales were up 9.6 percent in 2015.

A total of 247 new and used were sold in December – up from 235 sales last year, according to data provided by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The information is compiled from titles processed at county title departments by the final business day each month.

There were a total of 3,183 new and used vehicles sold in 2015 compared with 2,904 sales in 2014.

New vehicle sales more than doubled last year at 419 compared with 278 sales in 2014. There were 2,764 used vehicles sold in 2015 compared with 2,626 for 2014.

The leading dealer of Crawford and Morrow counties in 2015 was Mathews Chevrolet Buick of Bucyrus. The dealership saw a 31.44 percent in sales in 2015 with 648 new and used vehicles compared with 493 sales in 2014 when the dealership was formerly known as Haydocy Chevrolet Cadillac Buick. The next two leading dealerships were Moyers Auto Wrecking of Crestline (161) and All Quality Auto Parts of Galion (148).

Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge continued to be the leading makes for new and used vehicles. There were 1,052 Chevrolet makes sold in 2015, while Ford had 584 vehicle sales and 231 sales for Dodge.
