Artie Dunn says she didn’t hear her garage flip over Monday night. She heard the winds whipping against the house, but went to bed early. She got up in the night and noticed her lights and electric were off.
Dunn looked out her window Tuesday morning and was shocked to see her garage wasn’t in its usual place. Her car was sitting there, but the garage roof had completely flipped off its foundation and landed on the tool shed. Fortunately there wasn’t even a scratch on her car, but her tool shed and lawnmower were destroyed.
The lights and electric were off in her house and her son found out that the wires from the garage to the house were pulled apart. She pushed the breaker in the fuse box and her lights and electric were back on.
Dunn’s neighbor, Linda Hemenway said she was up Monday night on her computer and heard a crash outside between 11:30 and 12:30. Dunn’s garage and home is behind her house and she points out that the garage had the only wind damage. She said “it’s weird” that there was no other damage around the garage and speculates that it could have been a small tornado that could have come down on the spot.
Dunn’s neighbors, Hemenway and Jackie Weaver said nothing else seems to be touched by winds in the neighborhood. Edison Village Fiscal Officer, Bruce Seaburn said there were no other reports of damage in the village.
Morrow County Sheriff dispatchers reported downed power lines on Noble Street in Marengo. Several homes in the town were without power for a short time. Another report of wind damage from the Sheriff’s office was on State Route 95 west of Edison where power lines were down near County Road 28.
