A good time was had by all at this month’s Morrow County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. Instead of the normal agenda, it was a time to just enjoy each other’s company and meet new Chamber members.

Each year at our Holiday Chamber Luncheon we recognize Chamber members who has gone above and beyond in their service to the Morrow County Community. Brian Bauman, Regional Representative for Secretary of State Jon Husted was on hand to present proclamations from Mr. Husted.

Recognized were Roc and Maria Castricone of Buckeye Training & Fitness for their fundraising annual BOO!Dash 5K. One of the highlights of the Halloween season, participants wear costumes for the race/walk.They also host activities for the kids, live entertainment, great food, and more with proceeds donated to charity. Cayden’s Journey, was the beneficiary. An infant with Morrow County ties that has been in the hospital for almost a year. Their goal was to raise $4000. Thanks to the success of their event, $7000 was donated for Cayden’s care!

Randa Wagner, long time editor of the Morrow County Sentinel, was saluted for her commitment to the Morrow County community. She has worked hard to ensure local news stays the backbone of the Sentinel. Randa is retiring this month. We thank her for ensuring local events of the businesses and organizations, especially non-profit organizations.

All campers at Morrow County’s Flying Horse Farms are greeted with a cozy, comforting quilt waiting for them on their bunk when they come to camp each year. It is a cherished gift they take home with them to remind them of their wonderful time at camp. The group called Snuggled in Hope makes the quilts and meets monthly to ‘tie’ the quilts to have all 600 quilts ready each season! It is a true labor of love! The first Monday of the month the group meets at First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Gilead starting at 9 am. Volunteers to help ‘tie’ are always welcome and appreciated. No experience needed!

Andy Bower, Edward Jones Investments, was thanked for his term of service as Chamber President and Board member that ends Dec. 31. Don Wiggins, Flying Horse Farms, will be Chamber President beginning Jan. 1. Andy Bower highlighted the two recent community Christmas events and what a huge success they were! He thanked LeAnne Gompf and the entire team at Century 21 Bob McElroy Realty for their coordination of the return of the

Christmas Parade during the Christmas in the Village celebration. Next was recognition for Judy Graham and Steve Watts and team of Mike Graham Insurance who hosted the Christmas on the Square celebration which featured live reindeer, sleigh rides and free pictures with Santa by a professional photographer!

Chamber Executive Director Cathy Francis asked the attendees for donations of soup for the Morrow County Food Pantry. As usual, Chamber members came through with lots of soup for the Pantry clients!
