Susann Castore is an unlikely super hero. Small in stature, dressed in floral leggings, red boots and a cape with a smiley face, she is the larger than life Goodwill Ambassador of Kindness for the State of Ohio.

She recently visited with the residents of Woodside Village, sharing her message of kindness, hope and compassion. Sharing smiley faces, hugs and a caring ear her goal is to make Ohio the model state for kindness in the country.

The idea for her mission of sharing acts of kindness was sparked by the Kindness Exchange which provides homeless and low-income individuals with an opportunity to offer their talents and skills in exchange for a good or service needed. Businesses would give and accept tokens in exchange for small tasks these individuals could complete.

This idea of exchanging kindness to help one another resonated with Castore.

She is a licensed professional counselor, who spent years in and out of hospitals for her own mental illness, making it through 5 suicide attempts. It was during one of those stays that a fellow patient told her it was her Act Of Kindness that made him want to better himself. That’s where she gets the nickname A-OK Lady

She understands our struggle to connect, from her own personal and professional experience, and felt she could help more people in her everyday life than just those coming to her office. Now she spreads kindness, hope, and compassion while traveling through the state of Ohio. She has logged thousands of miles each year connecting others with others by sharing a smile.
