93RD ANNUAL TWIG BAZAAR CALL FOR ARTISANS – Celebrating its 93rd year, TWIG of Nationwide Children’s Hospital is excited to invite crafters to be a part of its annual fundraising event, the TWIG Bazaar, on Nov. 8. Located at the Lausche Building at the Ohio Expo Center, this anticipated event attracts more than 3,000 patrons and is the largest, single-day event sponsored by TWIG. Since its inception, TWIG has raised more than $30 million to support patient care, education and research at Nationwide Children’s.

Outside vendors can now apply to be a part of this longstanding tradition by submitting an Artisan Application by September 1. The TWIG Bazaar features handmade items including jewelry, holiday ornaments and decorations, and much more. In addition, a silent auction, Pick-A-Price, Attic Treasures, Pictures with Santa and a delicious Holiday Pantry filled with delectable treats round out this popular event. The Avenue of Trees and Wreaths will feature an assortment of beautifully decorated trees and wreaths by TWIG and are available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the areas of greatest need at Nationwide Children’s.

FINDLAY OFFICIAL WINS NATIONAL AWARD – She tirelessly works behind the scenes to help students at The University of Findlay bring compelling and memorable entertainment and educational speakers to campus, and her leadership knowledge is in demand. For her years of effort, Sharinda Welton was recently recognized with an award from a national organization.

At the recent Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities national conference in Jacksonville, Florida, Welton received the Yonna Pasch Heart of APCA Award, which recognizes a professional in student life that lives to the fullest in positive ways and sets a stellar service example on and off campus.

Welton has been UF’s director of student activities, commuter services and leadership development since 2000. She advises Campus Program Board, the student-led group that books, promotes and hosts diverse entertainment on campus, with much of it being open to the community to attend. She coordinates the Music Bach’s Concert series in conjunction with the board, and coordinates “Welcome Week” programming in conjunction with UF’s Student Government Association. She organizes student leadership and educational development retreats and trips to regional and national conferences. She also co-created and implemented T.O.O.L. (Teaching Oilers Organizational Leadership) Development Series with SGA leaders.

CEDAR FALLS TO HOST BEER AND WINE FEST – The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls today announced the return of its wildly popular Beer & Wine Fest. Highlighting a variety of local craft breweries, artisan wineries and local musicians, the event is slated for two summer Saturdays: June 27 and Aug. 29, from 2-5 p.m. Tickets for beverage samples are just $6 each or $25 for five and include appetizers and live music. Wine Trends and Vintage Wines are among the specialty distributors who will uncork the artisan and luxury wines that will be represented at the event. Hide Away Hills Lodge, Buckeye Lake Brewery and several others will offer tastings of their craft beers. Regional favorite, Buck Run Stompers will provide live entertainment on June 27, offering sounds of country, rock and blues. Back for a return engagement this year, Forcynthia, is a sister duet celebrated for stunning acoustic rock, folk and blues harmonies. The pair will perform Aug. 29.
