Ruth Logan, of Mount Gilead, was named the recipient of the third annual Karen Fishburn Stewardship Award when the American Red Cross in Morrow County Volunteer Recognition program was held Monday, Sept. 28, at the Cherry Street School, Mount Gilead.

Logan was described as one to whom “The glass is always half full” as opposed to “half empty.”

“She is always trying to make things better in her community and has preferred to be helping ‘behind the scenes’ and really likes to avoid the limelight,”said Sandie Fisher. chairman of the advisory board, who presented the award.

Logan, a retired Mount Gilead school teacher, joined the American Red Cross in 1984 and was named the recipient of the Clara Barton Award in 1995.
