Rain drops and cool weather did not deter visitors to the annual Mt Gilead State Park Apple Butter Festival held over three days October 2-4.

Most events were held in Shelter House Number One where it was kept comfortable with the dropped canvas sides, visitors enjoyed the entertainment and the contests Apple Butter was stirred during the night hours by Cub Scouts and during the daylight hours by members of Boy Scout Troops from Iberia Johnsville and Mt Gilead. Apple butter can be purchased for $5 a pint by making contact with the number on the paper in the window of the camp store or by contacting a volunteer.

Pet Costume winners: Cutest/Funniest: “Ruby,” the dog owned by Treva Dilsaver, Marengo; Most Original: Jackson Knipp, dog owned by David Knipp, Mt Gilead; Scariest: Kobi Knipp, dog owned by Cheryll Knipp.

The breakfast was served by the volunteers to 445 diners on Saturday.
